CHRISTMAS GREETINGS.
THE TROOPS REPLY TO SIR JAMES ALLEN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Dec. 21. Sir James Allen has received a reply to his Christmas message to New Zealand troops, and had time permitted this would have been communicated direot to ministers of religion to be read on Christmas Day in conjunction with the New Zealand message. As thi3 cannot be done direct the Minister requests that the following cable from General Godley be read in the churches as it is a very happily phrased answer to his Christmas message:— All ranks join with me in responding to your Christmas greetings. Our hearts are full of thankfulness t'God that this year has witnessed the cessation of hostilities, and that the coming year will see us reunited with our loved ones in a world worthy of the brave men who have given their lives to make it better.
New Zealand's Christmas message to its soldiers was sent put wherever possible to returning men on troopships, and the following reply has reached Sir James A]len frem a troopship passing through the Panama Canal with sick and wounded on the way to New land:The troops greatly appreciate their Christmas message from home. Kindly convey our greetings to all whom we hold most dear. —LieutColonel Colquohoun, Officer Commanding.
