WAITARA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Waitara, Dec. 19. The s,s. Boron finished her loading last night and proceeded to Wellington direct. The weather since she arrived lias been all tliat could be desired for loading operations, and the loading has been done in record time, notwithstanding the fact that many of % old hands were not sufficiently recovered from influenza to work and were replaced, by men unaccustomed to the work. The machinery inspector paid a visit to the local power house yesterday, and has presented the engineer with a' clean bill of health. With the exception of a few small repairs everything was satisfactory. The Electric Light Committee met. on Tuesday night and it was- decided to paint the front of the buttery room and roof, and to replace the platform behind the engines with t, more pemanent structure. A special meeting of the Council was j held last night, and the cost of the Waihi job was again considered.
