Amsterdam, Nov. 23. The Dutch steamer Johanna struck a mine near Staaw. Fourteen men were killed. The vessel is floating and will probably be salvaged.

THE WOOL INDUSTRY,
SALES RESUMED NEST JUNE.
London, Nov. 23. 'Mr. Goldfinch, addressing wool industry representatives, said that Government orders wonld be the chief factor in the production of tlie next three or four months. He expected that thereafter the Government requirements would gradually diminish. Probably the Government would continue to issue wool to spinners to the end of Juno or July. It ought to be possible to re-open the London auctions in the middle of the year without conflicting with the Government's interest respecting the purchase of Australian and New Zealand wools.— Aus.-N.Z_ Cable Assoc-
