INGLEWOOD.

(From Our Own Correspondent) Inglewood, Feb. 14. A man named A.' C. Rushbv was arrested on Tuesday by Constable longbottom, at Ngatoro, under the Military Service Act. , He was a First Division man, and was sent to Featherston Camp under military escort. •At a recent sitting of the S.M. Court here, before Messrs. T. E. Hamertor, and 11. Brown, J's.P., a youth named Bilski was charged with the theft of a purse containing 15s from the residence of Mr. Urry. Bilski pleaded guilty. Constable Longbottom stated that the theft was accomplished whiie Urry and his brother (both elderly men) were at the back of the section, getting wood. Accused found a window ajar, though the door was locked, and entered the house through the window. The justices took a lenient view of the circumstances, and ordered Bilski to come up for sentence when called upon, and to refund the money taken. J \

The Foresters assembled at Inglewood on Tuesday, and thoroughly enjoyed the outing, the local delegates making every eftort to secure the approbation of the visitors. Several passed an hour at bowls, while others had no difficulty in finding recreation that made the outing a pleasure.

Inglewood footpaths in and around the business portion of the town are a credit to the council, while the roads are also in first-class order. Tar-sealing is the mode of treating footpaths, and this treatment of the roads would also be welcomed by ratepayers. The Anglican Church here is practically demolished, as to allow removnl to another site the contractors have, found it necessary to pull the church to pieces. Once on the new site, the work of reerection should not be a matter of many weeks. The ground vacated will give more scope for the growing business of Mr. Newton King. The new site of the church is not a great distance away, so worshippers are not likely to be troubled in that direction.
