MANAWATU SUMMER MF.ETINfi. ENTRIES CLOSE TO-NIGHT. The Manawatu Racing Club's summer meeting takes place on December 20 and 27, and those interested are reminded that nominations for all events close to-night at 9 p.m. At the same time forfeit (1 sow) for the Twelfth Palmerston Stakes will be received. The programme includes the Manawatu Cup, of 700 sovs, l>/i miles; President's Hack of 400 sovs, l'/i miles; Fitzhcrbert Hack, of 300 sova, 0 furlongs; and Awapuni Hack, of 250 sovs, (( furlongs; and in addition hurdles and hacks are well catered for. Mr. J. E. Henrys is handicapper, and Mr. A. Keith will attend to the starting. , TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.") The Feilding J. C. Spring Meeting, which takes place on Saturday, promises excellent sport. Fine, dry weather has been experienced at Feilding during the past fortnight, and the course should be in good order. The Feilding Cup appears to have punters guessing, and whether Chortle, Snub or Nobleman will start favorite, remains to be, seen. The Flying Stake* is also regarded as very open. Nystad, Crowhurst, Carlysian, Inali and Nanna all have supporters, and it should be one of the best speculative races of the day. Acre, Lingerie, and Birkenrale are all likely to run well in the Feilding Stakes, though the touts rather ambiguously whisper, ''They don't know how good Acre really io yet!" Apart from Acre the Tilley. tpatn is p. strong one on paper, and Rude and Arrowfield particularly are nicely treated in their ensasement/
