THE STORY OF ANZAC.
To-night (Tuesday), at the People's Theatre, residents of New Plymouth and district will bo afforded the opportunity of hearing Sapper Moore-Jones, of the New Zealand Engineers, lecture on "The Story of Anzac." The sapper took part in the historical landing at Gatlipoli that cost so many lives of New Zealanders, and was over eight months on the Peninsula, where he'was attached to the- Army Headquarters Staff as artist, and consequently was afforded facilities to obtain particulars of enemy positions. 'Sapper Moore-Jones has compiled a lecture which is said to be the most interesting and attractive discourse ever presented to the public concerning Gallipoli, and the interest is increased by ,the screening of a large series of pictures, which were exhibited in London, and the soldier artist 'was highly honored by being commanded by their Majesties the King and Queen to have the pictures hung in Buckingham Palace, and to deliver a descriptive lecture to the Royal family. During the taking of these sketches the capper was continuously under fire. The lecture itself will give a good idea of the terrible difficulties pur boys bad to encounter. The slides will show the rugged nature of the country and the precipitous cliffs which our soldiers had to scale, and the dcscrintion coming frefm the mouth of one wlei went through it all excels all that ha- been written by many war correspondent* who have given us so many sketches of the happenings. The price of admission is extremely moderate, Anvone desirous of making voluntary contributions to tho Returned Soldiers' Association can do so. The proceeds of the lecture will be devoted to the New Zealand Returned 'Soldier*' Association, which is doing so much good in looking after the dependents of those, who have found an everlasting resting place on distant foreign shores.
