EGMOXT PICTURES. ' On Tuesday the Eginont Pictures will open at Opunake, Rahotu 011 Wednesday and Okato 011 Friday. A splendid programme is advertised. One of the star films is a Vitagraph drama entitled '•Battle of t'lie Weak." Paula Thurstoy attracts the attention of Wallace Griscom, head of the store in which she is employed. Griscom is a favored suitor for the hand of Helen Mason, who considers him a model young man. Becoming infatuated with Paula, he promotes her to a position as clerk in liis private office. Agnes, her room-mate, lias forebodings, hut says nothing, Griscom showers attentions upon her. Hor-ror-stricken. she indignantly repulses iiiln, and the following day is tyschargfd. Later, unable to find work, Agnes generously pays bet room rent, and Paula, rather than be a burden to the girl, leaves their humble apartment. She is struck by a passing sleigh, owned by Harry, the brother of Helen, who is nov.' engaged to Griscom, and carried to the Mason home. Harry falls in love with her, proposes, and is accepted. Paula goes away leaving a note warning Harrv not to let his sister marry Griscom. Griscom, fearful of discovery, succeeds by a ruse in getting Paula to an isolated house where after she spurns liis : offer of money to leave the city, threat- | ens her. She tries to escape, but in the(struggle the lamp is overturned and tlie j place set afire. Harry, who has learned !of Paula's whereabouts, arrives in time j to rescue both Paula and Griscom.
