Russell stated that there had been absolutely no differentiation regarding the officers and r.rew of the quarantined Wlllochra. Ono of the ship's company.. *he chief en. gineer, had drt lheratelv broken his quarv antine, and had induced a .Junior officer to act similarly. Another officer had applied for leave to vWt his sister who ;vas dying in Wellington . (lie believed she had since died), and after t)ie quarantine obligations had been discharged in their entirety, and after the medical officers were convinced that the vaccination had taken, that man vu allowed to make the Hp to Wellington. There was x desire that the engineer of the Willochra should not be changed at the present juncture, but when lie returned to New Zealand there was not a doubt but that he would be dealt with.
