AUSTRIAN FOREMAN RESIGNS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Taumarunui, May 13. Stephen Barbridge, the Austrian foreman who discharged a man named Ccf at the Okahukiira tunnel works, thus causing a strike, to-day telegraphed his resignation to Mr. Dillon, the contractor. Barbridge also wired to the secretary of the Workers' Union as follows: "Being an Austrian, subject through no fault of my own and having the interests of the men at heart;, I have terminated my employment." The only thing in the way of a settlement now is whether the contractor will reinstate Cox.
