"HEROES OR ZEROES."

To the Editor Sir, —"Patriot,"- like liis brother correspondent, "Conscriptionist," etfinces the same "manly" qualification when ho delivers his effusion against the barmen from behind the shelter of the Editor's dug-out (pardon the military aphorism!. and woe betide the British nation if such as lie are ever called upon to defend. As barmen, claiming the same rights and privileges of the ordinary citizen, we answer "Patriot's" challenge by covering his deposit of £l, and call upon him to prove his assertion. To facilitate matters for "Patriot" we would mention that fou, out of tlie six who signed the letter "How's This,'' arc married men. Of the remaining two one has enlisted twice and been rejected, and the other is medically unfit and is prepared to submit to the necessary examination even to enlistment, if required. In the meantime, we would suggest that if "Patriot" .and "Conscriptionist" are so keenly patriotic about recruiting, that they apply to the Defence Department, for positions as "anonymous" recruiting agents.—We are, etc., NEW PLYMOUTH BARMEN. per F Forward.
