We destroyed s.jnio enemy entanglements at Mont St. Michels, ana in other sectors «f the Careo region. Rain falls continually, blocking communication. The trenches are running streams, and some portions havi : disappeared altogether, while the hutments slide down the slopes. Even the armored ramparts give way, and the restoration w«rk absorbs the greater part of the energies on both sides. NEW WARFARE. FIGHTING WITH AYALAXCHIit. Rome, March 1,1. , The Austrian and Italians have developed a deadly warfare with [avalanches. Gigantic avalanches of snow, earth, rocks and trees arc precipitated by shelling the mountain sides under which troops are encamped, or exploding mines near the mountain tops. It is estimated that a thousand Austrians have thus been killed during the last week. Avalanches are especially effective in blocking railways and stopping the movements of troops. '
