NEW ZEALANDERS IN EGYPT, By Telegraph.—Press Ass#ciatien. „ Wellington, March 13. Lolonel Rhodes reports by cable from Oaire that nearly all the New Zealand patients are now aggregated in the gen eral hospital at Cairo. Less than 100 remain at 'Malta, and a few at Alexandria. Arrangements are being made transfer all to Cairo, Tlie men are leaving the hospitals always fully equippod with clothes for thp voyage, and the sick and wounded and convalescents are all well eared for. Colonel Rhodes suggests that if the troops become widely distributed a director »f postal services should be appointed and attached to the General Staff.

THE ARMY CORPS. ' allotment of commands. Wellington, March 14. Although it has been announced that General Russell takes command of the newly-formed New Zealand Division, General Godley still remains in supremt control as head of the corps of which the division will form ft part, and retains the right to make or approve promotions. Colonel Chaytor, who was to have command of the Rifle Brigade, takes the New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade and Colonel Braithwafte commands the Rifle Brigade. Colonel Erl Johnston retains command of the Infantry Brigade, and Major Pinwell succeeds Colonel Braithwaite on the staff. ' AN INQUIRY SHORTLY. Wellington, Last Night. It is understood that Mr. A. D. Thomson, Assistant Public Service Commissioner, will be given a commission to conduct an inquiry on behalf of the Government into certain statements that have been made regarding the nationality of Lieut. Alexander Hugh Grierson, a member of the 10th Reinforcements. The proceedings, which will be public, will be opened shortly, and persons who have made allegations will be given an early opportunity to produce their evidence. ALLEGED GERMAN LEANINGS',

A PROBABLE ENQUIRY. Wellington, March 14. Lieut. Alexander Hugh Orierson, of Auckland, officer in the 10th Reinforcements, stayed behind to take legal action against certain persons who had suggested he was of Gorman extraction and had German, leanings. An inquiry will be held into the charges, probably by Royil Commission. This inquiry will not prejudice any legal action by Lieut. Grierson, ARRIVAL OF TAHITI. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Laijt Night. .. The transport Tahiti arrived at Port Chalmers this afternoon. The number of invalided men on board is lfiO, and there are also six non-commissioned officers returning for commissions, eight medical orderlies returning to complete studies, four nursing sisters, two staff officers, and medical officers and a chap-lain-captain. Medical examination will be completed to-night and the troops will come up to Dunedin in the mornling. After a civic welcome the men for the North will entrain at 11.45 a.m., and the men far the South at 4 o'clock.
