RECOMMENDATION'S BY MEDICAL MEN.' Dunedm, l«iareh 13. A eonvmittee of the Dtlnedin branch of the Medical Association 1""; recommended— 1. That all cases of the disease should be. dealt with as regards isolation, etc., or, the same lines as the ordinary notifiable diseases. •2. That children in the same house should be isolated for three weeks from the time of notification. 3. That systematic watering of public thoroughfares'is' desirable, with daily flushing of gutters and mud tanks. 4. That all street sweepings should be removed promptly, and that damp sweepings of public buildings, business piemiscs and footpaths should be enforced. o. That the City Corporation should deal with refuse tips, stables and fowl runs, as already indicated at a reeeiu conference. G. That a house-to-house inspection in certain specified areas should be instituted, and that the by-law with regard to covered dustbins should be enforced. 7. That special attention should be paid to properties unconnected with th* sewers. 5. That young children should in the meantime be kept from places of public entertainment. The end the committee i in view iyi making these recommendations is to improve the sanitary conditions of the city, more especially in the direction of diminishing the prevalence of dust and flu*. As a sin., the committee recommended gargling of the throat with a solution of 1 in 1000 of potassium permanganate. •
