ON THE ISONZO FRONT. USEFUL ITALIAN ACTIVITY, Received March 13, 11.15 p.m. Rome, March 13. Operations are impeded by persistent bad weather, and heavy snow. After the bombardment of Isonzo, Italian infantry ploughed through deep snowdrifts and attacked the enemy's position with grenades. An enemy detachment in support was Caught by well-adjusted artillery and machine-gun fire. The Italian activity is interpreted as meant to prevent the Austrians reinforcing the enemy at Verdun,

BALKANS. ROUMANIA, A DECISION SHORTLY, Amsterdam, March 12. The Vossiche Zeitung says it is expected that Eoumania will shortly decide to intervene favoring the Entente. The Roumanian Minister will shortly return to Sofia with instructions which •will decide the future relations between Bulgaria and Eoumania. The Daily Mail's Odessa correspondent reports that the Bulgarians attacked a Rumanian vessel north-eastward of Rustehuk, and that an Austrian gunboat fired machine-guns at Rumanian troops, who replied. There were numerous casualties on Doth sides. Bucharest, March 13. The Exchange Telegraph says that Russia has signed an agreement allowing the passage of war materials to Rumania, and eventually supplying her with these, and has also acreed to give Rumania part of Bessarabia ~

ATTACK ON SALONIKA IMPROBABLE. ■i. BULGARIANS DISMAYED. ' RUSSIA ALTERS THE PROBLEM. $«, Received March 13, 5.5 p.m. London, March 12. The Daily Chronicle's Salonika correspondent states that the Allied positions continue to be extended and strengthened. Almost everybody is convinced that the enemy will not attack Salonika. News from Bulgaria indicates that dismay of the future is becoming a direct opposition to the war. Bulgar-German relations are not improving, as the Bulgarians regard their own part in the war as having been wholly victorious, and they are tired of waiting for a German victery which will enable the Bulgarians to regard their victory as final. Disputes between the staffs resulted in all Bulgarians being withdrawn from the front line. The invasion of Egypt is no longer regarded as possible, and it is rdm:t';ed that the Russian advance has changed the whole face of the military problem in the Near East.
