WOOL AND HIDES.
THE EMBARGO ON EXPORTS. MINISTER SAYS REGULATIONS 6TRICTLY ENFORCED. (From Our Own Correspondent.)' Wellington, March 11. Answering a question regarding the export of wool yesterday, the Minister for Customs (Hon. A. M. Myers) said that the export of crossbred and halfbred wools was permitted only to the United Kingdom,' No application for permission to export to any other country would be granted. It was a fact, added the Minister, that some wool had been bought privately for export to neutral countries before the embargo was announced. He was informed that about 75,000 bales were alleged to have been purchased on the sheep's back, but an arrangement of that kind did not affect the regulation. If the wool left New Zealand it must go to the United Kingdom. Referring'to hides and leather, Mr. Myers said that the export of 'eather was not allowed unless it could be shown that it was not suitable for local military requirements or for domestic use. Heavy hides were being kept in the country. The lighter hides could be exported to the United Kingdom and Australia if desired,
