TARANAKI DISTRICT COMMITTEE.
The Taranaki District Committee met last night. Present: Messrs L. A. Nolan (chairman), S. Pitt, W. Phillips, A. Alexander, L. B. Webster. J. Gray, 0. W. Sole, W. C. Weston, A. R. Stan'dish, E. F. Blundell, A. W. Budge, P. Orbell, N. King, Jj. H. Chaney, and" W. Hookam.
Trainers' licenses were granted to .Tames Thacker and J. W. Clareburt. Jockeys' licenses were granted to A. N. Goddard and Ronald Trigger. The latter was also granted an apprentice's license. Several other applications were held over. Gentlemen riders' certificates were granted to Messrs F. Aubrey, T. L. Paget, G. E. Clough, E. Fryer, and Tohi Toto. T.J.C. COMMITTEE. Subsequently the committee of the Taranaki Jockey Club met, the same gentlemen being present, with the exception of Messrs. Pitt, Gray, and Budge. Two new members 1 were elected, and four gentlemen were proposed for membership.
It was decided to ask the Railway Department to run an excursion train from Wanganui for the February meeting at New Plymouth, as was done this year. It was decided to extend all 'privileges to returned soldiers and men on leave from the military camps for the Christmas meeting. Mr. G. N. Skelton was appointed Clerk of the Course for the Christmas meeting, and it was decided to use Mr. J. Bennett's patent starting device.
