New policies for over three million pounds have been issued, carrying new premiums amounting to over one hundred and fifty thousand pound?. Claims paid to policy holders were three hundred and fifty-three thousand pounds, and these included one hundred and forty-four claims for lives lost m the war. A main feature of the report is the substantial reduction in the expenses of management, which are £13,000 less {.ban last year, although 'the income is £82,000 greater. The rate of interest has been well maintained, and averaged nearly five per cent. The sum of seven hundred thousand pounds has been added to the Assurance Fund, which now stands at nine million four hundred thousand pounds, and the annual income is over one and a half million pounds."
