WHAT GAME IS THIS
To the Editor. Sir,—Several people interested in the work of the Tarnnaki County Council have expressed surprise at the nonappearance in your paper of the advertisement notifying an election to 'ill the vacancy caused by resignation of Mr. J. A. Bridgeman. Now, as there ,s hardly a house in the district that does not receive the News, it is recognised' as a strange proceeding on the wrt of someone of the Council, and an explanation from some one in authority on that body would he welcome to a fairly large number. All sorts of queer reasons are given by various ratepayers as to the omission of the advertisement from the Daily News, and I'm thinking that the method adopted of keeping a large number in ignorance as to time, date, etc., of receiving nominations is not very creditable to all concerned. [ may state that many readers of the Daily' News have been carefully noting the advertisement columns for the notification, and much surprise was evinced when informed that it was published in other papers. Considering the wide circulation of your paper in this district there. seems to be good reasons for the rather strong comments I have heard, hence my drawing attention to the matter.—l am, etc. JOE B. SIMPSON, Durham Road, Nov, W 1915.
