NORMANBY.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) A large and enthusiastic meeting was held in the town hall on Thursday evening. Mr. G. Free, chairman of the Town Board, was in the chair. The chairman expressed his pleasure at seeing such a large attendance, and gave a hearty welcome to the principal speaker, Mr. J. T. M. Hornsby, M.P. Tho members of the National Reserve, under command of Mr. (1. W. Mitchell occupied seats on tli-j platform. The meeting was opened by Miss Edwards, organist of the Presbyterian Church, who played the national anthems of France, Russia, and England, and three girls stood on the platform holding the flags of these three nations. The first speaker wag the Rev. J. W. Butler, anil in a stirring address he j made nu earnest appeal to young men to enlist umt'i' a Hag that had over been the emblem of freedom ami justice,
.Miss Laurent and Mrs. liutler then rendered the duct, "Over the Moonlit Sea."
Mr, Hornsby, wlio was well received, tlinn gave a tolling address, Tin: speaker was. listened to with attention, and lie was frequently applauded. Mr. I-lornsby'3 address was' one of the best ever delivered in this district, and one that cannot fail to make men realise their responsibility to the Empire. At its conclusion Miss Butler recited a poem In memory of Nurse Cavell. -Mr. J, \V. Mitchell moved a vote of thanks to Mr. Hornsby, which was carried by acclamation. The result of the meeting was that four uieu handed In their names as recruits. The National Anthem closed the proceedings
