A QUESTION IN PARLIAMENT.
MORE GERMAN EXCUSES. London, Oct. 27. In reply to a question regarding reparation for Miss Cavell's execution, Lord Robert Cecil said Mr. Asquith's assurances on May 5 applied with twofold force to this savage murder of a noble woman under legal forms. It would not serve a useful purpose to declare the Governor-General of Brussels personally responsible, as he was not yet sure who was the chief offender. ('Air. Asquitb on May 5 repeated a statement that at the end of the war Britain would exact reparation from criminals however highly placed.) Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, Oet. 27. The Vossische Zeitung reports thai Miss Cavell's trial lasted three days. ' A society of thirty-five persons was implicated, and Miss Cavell, after the Princess Decroy, was the life of the undertaking. It was a regular scheme for the escape of soldiers through Brussels, caring for them until they were sent across the Dutch frontier. Times and Sydney Sun Services. Received Oct. 28, 5.5 p.m. London, Oct. 27. In the House of Commons Mr. McNeill gave notice to ask Sir E. Grey whether he has taken steps to convey to General von Bisaing (Governor of Brussels) that when opportunity offers he will be held personally responsible for the quasijudicial assassination of Mias CaveU.
