Archbishop Wright, in his annual presidental address to tho Anglican Synod, said: "We now recognise the tremendous issuS at stake in this war, and must take on the grim truth that we shall be worsted unless we fling aside everything that is usual and concentrate our entire Empire money, men, machines, thought, and our fiscal, scientific, intellectual, and spiritual resources alike—to't'.e supreme end of crushing the foes that are threatening to extinguish all our holiest aspirations."
