THE REBELS REPULSED. MARITZ BEATEN AT UPINGTON. LOYALISTS SUFFER LIGHTLY. Received 25, 9.30 p.m. Pretoria, January 25. Official.—Twelve hundred rebels with four guns, under Kemp and Maritz, attacked Upington on Sunday, but were repulsed, removing many dead and wounded, besides leaving twelve killed, 23 wounded, 96 prisoners, and a Maxim gun. Three of the Union force, under Van der Venter, were killed and 22 wounded. •' BELGIAN IMMIGRANTS WANTED. Received 25, 7.55 p.m. Capetown, January 25. A movement is afoot to induce Belgian farm laborers to immigrate here. !A representative is being sent to Europe.
