' Auckland, Last 'l A singular story was related to Mr. Outlen, S.M., at tb e resumed inquest on the body of Alice Ward', alias Lindrop,. aged about 34 venrs, who was found in tlie haibor near the Nelson street wharf. An examination of the body, showed that tihe women died from drowning, that she had' been drinking considerably; that there were aJbnwiond on one wrist as if she had been gripped! roughly, and that a small sum of monem was held tigMy in one hand.
