ENTERTAINMENTS.
THE -MYSTERIOUS LE-MAR. At 8 p.m. to-night in the Theatre Royal, the mysterious Le-Mar Company will open a season of one night only. Professor Le-Mar, who has the name of being the. greatest entertainer to yet visit New Zealand, will to-night prove that hypnotism is no longer in the dark. He has his audience in roars of laughter till the time, and it is this, naturally, that has made the mysterious Le-Miir so popular.
To-night lie is introducing his funniest tests, and one wJiich is spoken of by the Press as -being a real screamer, his great circus aet. Our local subjects are all great star actors in a great eircus, and there artists are beyond description.
Miss Pauline Boshea will also appear with this company and will give a display of mental telepathy and thought transference' which is indeed clever. Anyone may bring a note to the theatre with them, and without speaking a word- to her, the Professor will have her do as exactly on the paper. At 3 p.m. to-day, bells will ring at each end of Devon street to announce that the chase has begun for the mysterious Le-Mar, and the first person'to accost him will receive X~>. The correct challenge is: "Are yon the Mysterious Le-Mar?" He will reply: "i am. what do you want?" Answer,'"the .Co." The Mysterious Le-Mar can only visit Devon Street, and as soon as he is arrested, the hells will ring again, and it will be announced from the Criterion Hotel balcony who has arrested Le-Mar and receives the £O. If lie is not arrested by 5 o'clock, the .CO is given (o the public hospital. The prices arc lis, 2s, and Is. Seats can be reserved at Collier's without extra charge.
EMPIRE PIGTTUIiS. This evening is the last screening of the present fine programme of photo play. To-morrow at the matinee. Pathe Freres' remarkable star drama "At Handgrips with Death," will be presented, in addition to the following fine films which will support the .ilar: ••Taugicrs" (scenic), "Hermit Crab" (interest) "Ant and the Grasshopper" (trick film), "Two Men and a Mule." (comedy). '■Tommy Shutugen" (comic). "Pathe' Cazettc" (topical), and last, but Hot least, a li-uz-ziug Keystone comedy. "A With iVr a Bride."
