( GENERAL PARAGRAPHS (From Our Evident, Reporter). The great attraction in Stratford yesterday was the Scottish. Society's annual concert and dance, which proved a great success, in spite of the stormy weather. The committee had been at great pains to ensure visitors having an enjoyable time, and in this they achieved the end in view. Details wilt appear in to-inor-row's issue. The annual meeting of the Stratford Licensing Committee will lie held at the Courthouse to-morrow (Friday) at noon. The Methodist choir gave a satisfactory performance of the cantata, "Tnc Haymakers,'' on Tuesday night. A first offender was yesterday convicted and discharged for imbibing alcoholic liquor too freely.

The funeral of tfffc late Cedric Francis Crawshaw took place yesterday, a large number of friends being present. In honor of the King's Birthday, a parade of Territorials was held yesterday. Inglewood still exceeds Stratford in the rainfall record, the figures for May being: Inglewood 10.84 inches and Stratford 9.83 inches.

The next meeting of the Borough Council should prove very interesting, as several matters of importance may be dealt with.

The decision arrived at with regard to the proposed freezing works is viewed with much satisfaction locally. One important result of the works would be the greatly advanced price for fat cows, which at present are somewhat of a drug in the export market. Then again it will give a greater stimulus to pig-breeders, as they will have a sure and profitable outlet for their produce. These two lines are outside the ordinary beef and mutton supply, but should play an important part in'the success of the works and greatly increase the profits of dairymen. It would not be at all surprising to find 25,000 shares taken up readily at tnc start instead of the 12,500 stipulated.
