Considerable rain has fallen this week, and at tiim, of writing a sught drizzle continue,;. Cook's Gardens will be fairly heavy tomorrow even if there is no further rain. The loeal lifteeu played a practice m.Ueli with a Ii team on .Saturday, and considering that this was their first game lli's season (cup fixtures not having started yet) tlie exhibition wafc, a fair one, the reps, winning by 16 to 10. The following will represent Wanganui against Taranaki: Full back: J. Lockett. Thrce-quarteiv,: It. Collier, F. ileuli, A. Temperton. Five-eighths: F. Collier, R. Campion. JlaCf: C. ,Swan. Owing to there having been no senior matches played ill town so far this so:ison, the j-uj'.Getoits 'have had to be guided solely by last year's form, and the above team is practically the sumo as that which defeated Australia. Four vacancies in the ranks of that team had to- be filled. NlflVS AND NOTES. The Okalo-Inglewood match was another forward tussle played in the rain and mud. The coastal iteam were much better in the loose than their opponents, but in scrum work Ingfcwood had the advantage. Okato forward!, got up some great rushes and headed by Carey Julian Bros., Burrows, and Hill swept from one end of the field to the other, and it is to this that they owe their victory. Carey, as usual, was in tin thick of it, but he was well supported by his comrades.. On a wet day Okato will be a dangerous proposition for any team in the competition. At full back K. Andrew)) was weli placed, and got his team out of many difficulties. Corbett at half, and Eustace did a lot of good work, especially on defence, Aylward has played better games. Of the Inglewood team Olson played a great forward game, whilst Cha-pman was prominent at times. Of the backs the Raync-r Bros, and Smith were very useful,'the last-named again proving a tine wet weather player. Miles, at full back, got ithrongh a lot of work very well.
Those players engaged in the first football match on"" tihe 'Recreation Grounds to-day are asked to be ready for play at 1.30 prclm.pt, as there & another fixture to fo'low.
