CIRCULAR ROAD RACE.
'ANNUAL MKKTING. At tlic annual meeting of the Taianaki Ciivulitr Knad Jiaee Committee last night, Mr. .Jumea Mcbeod prcsiili-;! over a good attendance of members. REPOItT. The annual report 1 expressed ideation at ilie rendt of last year's raw, notwithstanding the wet-back of liad wenfther and .unforseen circumstances that allected the finances. The balance sheet showed a eredit of £:i (is 7,1 hut f:W :i s (id had heen lost through a defaulting official. The race bad just cleared expenses. The nominations last year were up to expectations, and added interest was infused by the appearance of several of Australia's best riders. The motor evcte races, though not.a financial success, had proved very interesting. The statement of accounts showed the main receipts to be, gate money £4B 8s 3d, entertainments £35 7s Od, nominations £25 3s Qfl, and balance from previous year £39 4s sd. The chief items of expenditure were prize monev £llß Ss. The total receipts amounted to £]!)!> 8s sd. The amount owing by the laic secretary was £33 3s Cd.
Mr. McLeod, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, expressed regret that through circumstances over which the executive had no control the balance had been reduced by about £4O. He paid a special tiibnle to the work of the treasurer (Mr. E. Whit tie) in unravelling the position of thv finances. The "ace was, however, now firmly established, and despite the loss; there could b/i no question of abandoning it.
The report and balance-sheet weie adopted, after a brief discussion. ELECTION OF OFFIECRS.
The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, His Worship the Mayor; president, Mr. E. Whittle; vice-presidents, Messrs W. C. Weston, J. Bennett, L. A. Edwards, J. McKean and Geo. Tabor; secretary, Mr. K, Humphries; executive, Messrs J. McLeod, W. Dineen, A. George, C. Bond, 0. Sadler, J. Elliot, Stainton and Cattley; general committee, Messrs J. Clark, J. Eliott, Hawkins, H. Brookes, W. Dineen, J. McLeod C. Sadler, W. C. Weston, McKay. Cattley, C. Bond, N. Benner, E. Jones, Vinsen, Jf. Lightband, Stainton, G. Bruce, J. Smith, G. Malam, W. Way, J. Bennett, H. Boswell, Brocklebank; treasurer. Mr. E. Whittle; auditor, Mr. H. Stocker. It was decided to hold the circular road race in September next.
