The annual meeting of delegates to the Grand Lodge of the Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of New Zealand, which is to be held this year in Christchurch, will commence on Wednesday, May 13, in the Victoria Hall, and will continue for two or possiblv three days. M.W. Brother Maurice Thompson, 'of Invercargill, who has held the office of Grand Master for the past two years, is retiring this year, and will be succeeded by R.W. Brother J. J. The Lodge has now a membership of about 15,000, and about two hundred lodges throughout New Zealand are affiliated to it.
The chief business of the meeting will be a discussion on the question of permanently locating the headquarters of the .lodge in Wellington. At last year's meeting in Auckland it was decided to settle permanent headquarters, but a proposal will be brought forward this year to rescind the motion. Among the other business will he the reports of the Boards of Benevolence and of General Purposes and of the Annuity Board. The annual income of the lodge is about £33,000, and of this several thousands are distributed annually in benevolence.
