THE ASSOCIATION GAME. MEETING OF NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. AUSTRALIAN VISIT DESIRED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Council of the New Zealand Football Association met to-night. , Challenges for the Brown Shield were received from Hawke's Bay, Wcstland, Wanganui and Otago, and it was deckled that Canterbury (the holder?') should accept the challenges in the order given. The sub-committee appointed t,o revise the Brown Shield rules reported, suggesting certain alterations..
The secretary said it was intended that challenges should no longer be held over from season to season,
Five per cent of the gate would go to the New Zealand Association, and' the balance would be divided, three-fifths going to the challengers and two-fifths to 'the home team. Fees will be returned in the case of challenges being unaccepted at the end of a season. These recommendations were approved, and, will be submitted for confirmation at the annual meeting of the association on "May 28. It was decided that Canterbury should accept Hawke's Bay's challenge before June 6.
The secretary was instructed to ascertain if an Australian Association, New South Wales for preference, will send a team to New Zealand before August'next, if the reported contemplated visit by the Commonwealth team does not eventuate. The same terms will be offered as those under which the 1904 team toured the Dominion.
