A card was found in the grounds adjoining, bearing the words, "Phillimore, judge not." THE LATEST ACT OF MADNESS. DESTROYING A CANAL. Received 23, 12.40 a.m. London, June 22. Suffragettes exploded a bomb, which made a cavity almost penetrating the canal embankment at YardlCy Wood, Birmingham. Had the attempt been successful, eleven miles of water would have been emptied into the valley, devastating the crops, and great loss of life would have been inevitable.
