I Mr. Barclay Hector, Registrar of the I New Zealand University, is on a short • visit to New Plymouth. I The Mayor of Auckland (Mr. C. J. Piivr), accompanied by Mrs. Parr, leaves by the steamer Niagara on July Ist on a month's holiday trip to Australia. A London cablegram announces the deatli of Sir Frederick Johnstone, aged 71 years. He will be succeeded by his twin brother, Lieutenant-Colonel George Johnstone, a famous sportsman. Major-General Godley, accompanied by Mrs. Godley, left Wellington by the Aorangi for 'Frisco on Friday evening, en route for England. At Home the General will attend the Aldershot manoeuvres, and also the big annual Army manoeuvres. While passing through United States, the Commandant hopes to visit several of the service schools of the American Army. He will be back in the Dominion about the end of the year.
