SENSATIONAL ROBBERIES.

On April 24 the residence of Captain Cox, at Wollahra, was burgled and jewellery to the value of £BO stolen. Last night night the two Misse9 Cox were alone in the house, a brother named Roy, aged sixteen, having just previously left. There was a knock at the door, and when it was opened a masked, man presented a revolver at Miss Cox and demanded a diamond Ting that she was wearing, valued at £l5O. She refused and struck the intruder, who knocked her down. Her sister came to her assistance, and in a lengthy struggle the sisters received several wounds on their heads and bodies. They managed to belabor the burglar, but eventually the intruder overcame the sisters, and each handed over a ring. The man then decamped. Earlier in the night a man named Leggatt was driving on the Belmore road when two masked men jumped out. One seized his bridle, and the other presented a revolver at him. They demanded money, and Leggatt handed over- £3O. Jumping out of the buggy he started to run, and one highwayman fired, wounding bis arm. Both then decamped. There was a sensational development to-day when a mini named Laurence and the boy Roy Cox were arrested and remanded on a charge of committing the robbery on April 24. The arrests resulted in a confession by Roy that he had arranged with Laurence to rob his sister last night. He also confessed that he and Laurence stuck up Leggatt, by whom' young Cox was employed until a few days ago. Cox held the horse while Laurence robbed and shot Leggatt. ; The police' have found the missing r'fngs" and a revolver, with one chamber discharged, in 'Laurence's room.
