EDISON STORAGE BATTERY

Among the scores of inventions (says the Standard) that have engaged his thoughts, since his electric light was realised, Mr Edison regards his new storage battery as the greatest accomplishment of his- life. This nickel and steel battery is destined to revolutionise certain phases of transportation. It had been for some time operated successfully in a single tramway car. The Beach storage battery train, which is going to the Cuban Railway of Havana, in its trial run from New York to Long Reach, in Long Island, 25 miles away, made the formal entrance of the storage battery into the regular railway field. Mr Edison is said to have spent ten years of labor and between £OOO.OOO and fSOO.OCO upon the battery. The 25 mile rm oath way was made in about 55 minute- with a not cost for power of less than Ss.
