GAOL-BREAKERS.
TERRORISING A TOWN. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. New York, October 13. _ Nineteen convicts revolted in the Rawlins Penitentiary, Wyoming, and escaped after a brisk fight with the guards. Nine were captured. The town is in a state of terror, and the populace is under arms. A noted desperado commands the convicts, and threatens vengeance if attempts are made at his recapture. Received 14, 11.50 p.m. New York, October 14. The guards locked the Rawlins penitentiary with mutinous prisoners in it. trying to prevent a wholesale gaol-break-ing. Armed citizens are waiting to attack the escaping convicts. It is rumored that several guards and convicts were killed. A citizens' posse is fighting the escapees on the hills. Two men were killed and one badly wounded in the street. Two convicts have been recaptured. Troops are asked for.
