MYSTERY SOLVED.

AN OTAKI SENSATION*. Otaki, October 13. A sensation was caused here to-day when it became known that the reamins of Mr. Stanley J. Beattie, who was lost on the ranges many months ago, had been found at the back of Waihoanga by three lads—Sidney Diaper, Bethel, and Albert Collier. The boys, who were, out rabbit-hunt-ing, found the body in the sand on the bank of the river, and at once informed Mrs. Collier, who rang up Constable Satherley late last evening. The constable, went to the scene at an early hour this mornig, and dug the bodv from the sand.

One arm was intact, but a portion of the left was gone. The left leg was found to he broken, and the right foot had a boot on. His riding pants were torn, and it was evident that Beattie had had a rough experience. He had on a shirt, a belt, a gold watch lace guard, sheath knife, all of which •have "been recognised as belonging to Beattie.

The remains -were brought into town by Constable Satherley, and an inquest will be held to-morrow (Monday) afternoon.
