WELLINGTON MATCHES POSTPONED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Owing to wet weather and the bad state of the grounds all the football and hockey matches set down for yesterday afternoon were postponed. AUCKLAND (2!)) v. SOUTH ISLAND (3). I Auckland, Last Night. | The South Island country representative team met the Auckland Rugby representatives on Saturday, and were defeated by 21) points to 3. The Southerners were outclassed in the second spell. Auckland's score was made up by tries by Mackv (2), McGregor (2), Trcsize, Sellars, and Carroll. Jefferson converting three and Wa'lshe one. Church, kicked a penalty goal for the South Island team. The visitors will leave for Stratford .to-morrow, where they will meet Taranaki.

Endeavors are being made to arrange a match between a team of local footballer.? and a combined fifteen from Rahotu and Opunake, The match will be played at Rahotu on either Saturday or Saturday week. The New Plymouth fifteen, which will be a cosmopolitan crew, will journey to Rahotu in motorcars, and will probably have a following of local barraekers. Playing against Inglewood on Saturday the Central school team was defeated by (i points to nil. As the weather was beautiful for football a good game, resulted. _ Central had the first J spell all in their favor and over-eager-ness spoilt many chances of scoring. Late in the second spell the .superiority of the Inglewood backs told the tale, and just about five minutes from time Inglewood scored two tries in succession.
