He cut a deep gash under Flynn's left eye and shook him with left and right hooks. In the second round Johnson toyed : with Flynn, who bled at the mouth. In the third round Flynn rushed and hooked Johnson on the mouth with his right and left, bringing blood, but Flynn was streaming as he went to the corner. Flynn was badly punished in the nextthree rounds. Flynn tried to reach Johnson's stomach, but Johnson laughed at his efforts and dazzled the spectators by his speed. Flynn started butting in the sixth round, and was warned. Flynn claimed that Johnson was holding. Johnson then dazzled Flynn with a volley of lefts and rights to the face, and then stopped, apparently to prolong the fight. In the seventh round Flynn failed to land a blow, but Johnson landed a dozen hard punches and made the blood fairly gush as he rained the blows in. , In the eighth round Flynn started but- ' ting again and was warned. He was ' again unable to land a blow. In the ninth round Johnson held Flynn at arms' length in an attempt to prevent butting. Finally Flynn ;rot close to him, jumped a foot in the air. and landed the top of .; his head against Jounson's jaw. The police thereupon stopped the fight, and ' Johnson was given the decision.
