A DROWNING FATALITY. By Telegraph—Press Association. , Invercargill, Last Night. A drowning accident by which Garnet Bruce Mackie, a married man with tnree children, aged 29 years, lost'his life, occurred at the mouth of the Murray river, Stewart Island. Mackie, who was manager of the Murray River Sawmilling Company, went out to the steamer Invercargill in a launch, and was missed on the return journey. It is presumed that he tripped and fell into the water. Dragging operations are in progress. SUICIDE BY HANGING.. Auckland, Last Night. This afternoon a young man named David Wright, a clerk about 35 years of age, was found hanging by the neck in a shed at his home in Newmarket, life being extinct. The young man was employed by the Loan & Mercantile Company, but for some little time past had been away from work on account of illhealth, and latterly had been in despondent spirits. He went to a shed at the hack of the house with the stated intent of cutting some wood,- and just about, an hour later was found hanging by the neck, a piece of clothes line having been used for a noose. FOUND DROWNED. Dunedin, Last Night. The body of a youth named W. G. Watson, aged 18 years, was found at Ocean Beach this afternoon, just clear of the water. The deceased, who resided at the Imperial Boarding-house, went out after breakfast and did not return. Deceased was a porter on the railway.
