Miss Rosina Buekman left for the nortli by the Karawa last night. A Sydney cablegram records the death of Dr. W.'Bartlett, formerly of Ekctahuna. Mr. C. O'Sullivan, of Uruti. who has been on a trip to Wellington during the past two months, returned to Waitara yesterday. The death occurred at Palmorston N. on Wednesday night of Mr. Mark Blake, an old identity of the town, at the age of eighty-three years. The death occurred at Kelson yesterday of Eugene Joseph O'Connor, aged seventy-eight, who in earlier times was a prominent figure in piiolie life., when he was known as the "Buller Lion." He was provincial secretary of Nelson, and when the Provincial Government was abolished was elected M.H.R. for Buller in 1871. with brief intervals holding the seat till 1893. He has latterly been living in retirement. The Rev. John Wilkinson, 8.A., senior curate at the New Plymouth Anglican parish has accepted the position of vicar of Epsom parish, Auckland. Mr. Wilkinson, who has endeared himself to all local Church of England parishioners, and who has earned the respect and esteem of the townsfolk generally, will leave for his new sphere of labors at the end of August. While at New Plymouth, Mr. Wilkinson took a prominent part in organising many movements for the welfare of the church, and his place will be hard to fill.
