GISBORNE JOCKEY CLUB. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, Last Night. The first day of the Gisborne Racing Club's winter steeplechase meeting passed off to-day in ideal weather, and in the presence of a record crowd. There . passed through the totalisator the sum of £9038, as against £7934 for the initial day of last year. The following are the details of the racing:— Handicap Hurdle Race, of 100 sovs; one mile and three-quarters. —1 Master Theory, 9.1, 1; 2 Paisano, 11.13, 2; 4 Game," 9.11, 3. 3 Dogger Bank 10.2. and 5 Baldas 9.2 also started. Won by three lengths, with Game two and a half lengths away.' Time, 3mm 20sec. A protest against Master Theory for running off at the first hurdle was dismissed. Maiden Hack Race, of 50 sovs; four furlongs.—l Multiply, 9.0, 1; 4 St. Helena, 9.0, 2; 3 Field Force, 9.0, 3. 9 Multidno 0.0. 2 Merrimax 9.0, 7 Pansy L 9.0, 5 Carl Percy 9.0, 0 Nigel 9.0, and 8 Faith 9.0 also started.. Won by about a head, with half a length separating second and third. Time, 51 2-ssec. Flying Handicap, of 90 sovs; six furlongs.—3 Caher Devan 9.0, 1; 1 Cullinan, 9.8,' 2; 7 Ballv Shannon. 9.7, 3. 0 Dazzling 10.9, 5 Scarsk 10.2, 2 Ardfert 9.13, 9 Zetland 9.7, 12 Leahora 9.4, 11 Te Rakato 9.3, 4 Admiral Soult 9.0. 8 Necktie 9.0, and 9 Kielder 9.0 also started. The winner led all the way, and won by half a length, with a full length between second and third. Time, lmin 7 l-ssee. Gisborne "Park Steeplechase Handicap, of 200 sovs; about" three miles.— 1 Armagh, 10.6. 1; 3' Bonnie Jean, 9.9, 2; 6 Monarch, 9.7, 3. 2 Tui Cnkobau 10.12, 5 Te Raui 10.9, and 4 Quandary 9.7 also started. Bonnie Jean led for most of the way, but tired at the bottom hurdle, and Armagh won in a canter, with the third horse close up. Time, flmin 27sec.

Hack Flat Handicap, of 60 sovs; seven furlongs 1 Amaru, 9.7, 1; 2 Sylverlvte, O.fi, 2: 5 Compliment, 9.10. 3. 3 Rising Sun 9.8, 4 Tyne Lass 9.3, 6 Santiago 9.2, 9 Glendining 9.2, 8 Passadema ;9.0. and 7 Zulu Queen 9.0 also started. The finish was close, Sylverlyte passing the post half a length behiud the winner, Compliment heing near at hand. Time, Imin 33sec. Tramway Steeplechase Handicap, of 100 sovs; two miles.—2 Taiaha, 10.7, 1; '4 Te Rahui, 9.9, 2. I Captain Jingle 10.0 and 3 Swarthmoor 10.8 also started, but both baulked at the hurdles and withdrew. Te Rahui ran round the second last hurdle and Taiftha romped home. - Te Rahui then registered an easy second. Time, 4min 17% sec. Winter Oats Handicap, of 100 sovs; one mile and a quarter.—-3 Admiral Sou,lt. 9.0, 1; 1 La Reina, 9.12, 2; 5 Birkline, 10.13, 3. 4 Spate 9,13 and 2 Sea Pink 9.5 also started 1 . The finish was the best of the day, heads only separating the placed horses at the post. Sea Pink fell and his jockey (F. D. Jones) sustained a broken collarbone. Time, 2min 16 4-ssee.
