GRAND NATIONAL WEIGHTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christehurch, Wednesday. The committee of the C.J.C. at its last meeting, had before it a petition from a number of North Island owners asking that the weights for the leading events in the Grand National meeting be not published until after the Wellington winter meeting. The committee decided that it was not able to depart from the advertised dates. A London cablegram states that the King visited Newmarket and saw his horse Lilac win the Bottisham Plate.
