wm Mr. B. Dive, ex-M.P. for Egmont, is on a visit to Now Plymouth. Mr. Poison, shorthand reporter on the Opunake Railway Commission, is an old Stratford boy. Mr. T. C. Stanners, a well-known resident of Eltham, was on Sunday operated on for appendicitis. Miss Rosina Buckman, who is at present at Auckland, is expected at New Plymouth next Friday. Visitors to New Plymouth include Mr. W. Kenny, of the Straits Settlements a son of Mr. Eyre-Kenny. ' Telegraphed advices from Auckland state that Mr. T. C. Williams gradually sank and passed away early on Sunday morning. J Mr. R. News comes from Auckland of tht death of Mr. Thomas Coldham Williams, after a long illness, aged 86 years. Ht was one of the oldest New Zealand bora settlers in the Dominion, Paihia, Bay of Islands, being his birthplace. The deceased was a son of the late Rev. Henry Williams, Archdeacon of Waimate, Bay of Islands, where he received hia education and spent his early youth, subsequently removing to Auckland. H» came to Wellington about 47 years ago and took up sheep farming, acquiring the Brancepeth estate, Wairarapa, of 49,000 acres, the Annedale estate, of 15,000 acres, and also the Landsdowot station, near Masterton, of about 2000 acres. For many years he resided with his family in Hobson street, Wellington. Mr. Williams did not take any part in public life. He married in 1858 a daughter of the late Mr. William Beetham, and had thirteen children, six eons and seven daughters.
