HOCKEY.

TAEANAKI ASSOCIATION. The animal meeting of the Taranaki Hockey Association was held in the Council Chambers last evening, Mr. Priest in the chair. The. following delegates, representing the various clubs, were present:—Messrs. Hill (Kaponga), Ralph (Waitara), Kemp (Hawera), Priest (Inglewood), and Avery (New Plymouth). An apology was read from Mr. F .P. Corkill, president of the association, regretting his inability to attend. He wished to thank the association for electing him as president for the past eight years, hut felt that the time had arrived when the honor should be passed on to a more suitable officer —one who could devote more time to the association than he himself could The report and balance-sheet, an abstract 'of which has already been published, were read and adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Dr. H. E. Fookes; vicepresidents, the presidents of all the affiliated clubs; secretary (acting), Mr. J. E. Avery; auditor, Mr. H. Stocker; delegate to the New Zealand Council, Mr. P. X. Rundle; management committee, the club delegates, officers, etc. It was decided that entries for all cup fixtures should close on Friday, May 3, and the fixtures should commence on May 16. The special and the northern and southern division fixtures will be decided at the association's next meeting, to be held at a later date. The affiliation fees were fixed at the same as last year. It was decided that the association should hold a tournament on the first convenient whole holiday, at a place to be arranged later. The secretary was instructed to write to the various clubs with a view to forming junior teams.

The Eltham Club referred to the question of moving the headquarters of the association to Stratford. This was left over for discussion at next meeting. Mr. J. E. Avery tendered his resignation as secretary of the association. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded him for his past services, and the resignation was accepted with regret. Mr. Averv will continue to act as secretary until a successor is appointed. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr. Corkill, thanking him for the able manner in which he had acted as president of the association for the past eight years, and regretting that he could not see his way clear to continue in office, and that the delegates had great pleasure in electing him an honorary life member of the association.
