MYSTERIOUS DEATH.
YOUNG WOMAN'S FATE. By Cable—Presa Association—Copyright Sydney, April 22. The mysterious death of a young woman named Clarice Barker is reported. She was walking home at Glebe in the company of William Gilchrist. Two men accosted them, and one asked Gilchrist what he was doing with his wife. Gilchrist replied that he did not know that the woman was married. 'Barker then proceeded with the strangers. Gilchrist watched, and saw them stop outside a vacant allotment. The woman later climbed a fence and walked off in the darkness. A few minutes afterwards one of the men followed her, but quickly reappeared and spoke to his companion, and they hurried away. Gilchrist went in search of Barker, and found her dead body at the bottom of a dry stormwater channel. The only mark of violence was a fractured wrist.
