JN RESPONSE to the large and influential deputation which waited upon me a few days ago, I consented to allow myself to be nominated for the office of Mayor of New Plymouth. In soliciting the suffrages of my fellow electors I am content to allow my past services (eight years as a Councillor, including six years Chairman of the Electric Light Committee and eight months Mayor), and also my services on the Taranaki Hospital Board, to speak for themselves. In the administration of the different departments of the Borough my aim j was always to see that the greatest efficiency was combined with economy, and to see that the ratepayers received 20s for every £1 spent.
