Mr. W. T. Jennings, member for Tnumarunui, stated in Parliament on Friday night that he would present to the Parliamentary Library a number of historical documents which had been accumulated by his uncle (Mr. Seffern a former editor of the Tanmaki Herald). The Prime Minister stated that he knew the collection to be valuable, and thanked Mr. Jennings for his promise to present it to the library. Another old veteran passed away recently in Mr. Thomas Skellon, who arrived in Auckland by the ship Columbus in October, 1804, being then nineteen years old. In January, 1805, he joined the. 3rd Waikato Regiment of Militia, and was discharged with his company, (No. 10) in October, 1806. He subsequently enlisted in the Armed Constabulary, and was at Otauto and the Ngaire.
