The motor boat Romania sailed irom Bridgeport, Connecticut, and/ was attempting a'* Transatlantic journey to Queens town, when : she struck . some rocks off Nova Scotia and becaime a total loss. The crew were saved. TYPHOON IN JAPAN. Tokio, July 26. 'A typhoon has caused widespread damage in Tokio and Ycikohama. A hundred persons perished. Forty bodies have been recovered. FRENCHMAN RUNS AMOK. Tangier, July 20. A Frenchman 'who was suffering from i mental troubles raced naked through the streets of Larache at night and; threw himself on. the Spanish sentinel,'! who fired, wounding the Frenchman. The latter was removed to Tangier. MINERS' CONFERENCE. London, July 2G. The Miners' Conference carried the Austro-Gcrman resolution in favor of inspectors elected by the workmen, and adopted resolutions advocating a minimum wage and the nationalism of mines. SHOOTING NIAGARA. New York, July 20. Leach, after evading the polioe, entered Niagara in a steel barrel and was carried over the Horseshoe Falls, reappearing a few seconds later with part of the end of the barrel damaged. Leach was rescued fifteen minutes later with his kneecap broken and badly bruised, but otherwise uninjured.
