BUTTER FOR CAXADA. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington,; Tuesday. , Hon. T. Mackenzie, Minister for Industries and Commerce, has received ad-, vice that through the failure of New Zealand shipper* of 'butter to comply with ihc requirements of the Canadian Customs Department importers in Canada have been put to considerable expense and annoyance. The Canadian '■ Customs officers have, owing to the failure of exporters in this respect, been compelled to exact the ''general" instead of the "preferential" tariff on many importations. Copies of the specimen form of invoice approved by the Canadian Customs for goods sold by an exporter prior to shipment may be seen on application to the Director of Commerce and Tourists, Public Trust Buildings, Wellington. COUNTIES* ASSOCIATION. Wellington, Tuesday. The New Zealand Counties' Association conference -will commence in Wellington on August 22. The meeting of the executive will be held on August 19. BAD ROADS AT GTSBORNE. Gisborne, Tuesday. The medical practitioners of Gisiborne notify that owing to the bad condition of the roads, attendance on messages received after 10 a.m., except in cases of emergency, will foe charged double rates.
