DISTRICT NEWS.
WARE A. (From Our Own Correspondent). The first meeting of the new hall committee was held 011 Saturday night, Mr. W. Re-vell presiding. It was decided that any church committee paying £1 a year rent be allowed use of the hall for one social during the year free of charge; that the fencing aiul rail to the houses be left in the hands of the chairimui and secretary; that the balance at the Bank of New Zealand be -withdrawn and with balance in hand placed in the post office savings bank at Okato; that Ducker Bros, be engaged to repair windows in the hall; that tenders be called for building a room 10ft. by 14ft. attached to the back of the hall, the copper to be bricked in, labor only; that the chairman and secretary be authorised to receive and .accept tenders if satisfactory. Tlio bachelors and spinriters ball will be held in the hall on Wednesday night. TONGAPORUTU. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A meeting of those interested in the formation of £ Waitara-Mokau Railway League was held at Tongaporutu on Sunday. There was a fair attendance of settlers. The whole matter was discussed at length. Mr. Baberstock was appointed delegate to attend a conference at I'renui shortly, and Mr. Egglcton was appointed lion, secretary of the league. The football match Tongaporutu v, Urenui, which was to have been played here on Saturday next, has been postponed till a later date. Tongaporutu plays a football match with Awakino at Tongaporutu next Saturday.
