Tlio Wellington Racing Club's winter meeting was (brought to a close with a good day's sport The racing throughout was very interesting and some very good finishes were witnessed. The Steeplechase provided a good contest, Cor*zo<n winning rather easily. Watson, the rider of dem in the first race, broke a leg by coming in contact with a spectator's head when entering the straight. The totalisajtor investments for the day were £20,745, making a grand total of £58,018, as against £34,203 10s for last year's winter meeting. Gray heads the list of winning mounts, his total being 79. Whittaker is second with 77. Results:
OnsTow Handicap, 6 furlongs.—Longstep 1, Moreca.mibe 2. Bracken 3. Also started: Dogger Bank, Flitaway, Mon Ami, British Maid, Silkweb and Clem. Won by two 'lengths. Time, Imin 19scc. Crofton Handicap, 7 furlongs.—Undecided 1, Lady Fran 2, Foreshot 3. Also started: Projectile, Epsom Lass, Moutoa Girl, Rongomau, Turna, SorneTsault and Field Fare. Foreshot made most of the running, but Undecided came on the scene at the last moment, and won by half a length. Time, lmin 34 2-ssec.
Oonmna Hurdle Handicap—Waterworks 1, Gaelic 2, Fond Memory 3. Also started: Golden Water, St. Bill, Taft, Jim amd Whitestone. St. Bill led for most of the way, Waterworks taking the lead in the straight. Won by half a length. Time, 2min 54 4-ssec. .Tilly Stecplccha.se, 2% miles.—Corazon 11.13 1, Hoanga 11.0 2, Rihstone Pippin 9.7 3. Also started: Sir Lethe, Winiata., Xavier, Levant, Captain Jingle, St. 'Albert and Defeat. Hoanga led nil tihe way to the straight, where Oorazon Joined him, and after a good race won •by a long neck. Defeat and St. Alibert fell and Captain Jingle ran off. Time, smin 34 4-ssec.
Final Hurdle Handicap, of 250 sovs, 1% milos.—North-East. 10.2, 1- Don Quex. 0.4, 2; Napper, 10.1, 3. Alco started: The Rover, Te Ru, Miss Explosion, Longner, Hydrant, and Nortli-aEst. Won all the way. Time, 3hin 21sec. Kia Ora Handicap, of 100 sovs; six furlongs.—Odessa, 9.7, 1; Sandy Paul, 9.13, 2; Big Blast, 9.0, 3. Also started: Amaru, Kingswell, Lady Septimus. Won by a nose. Time, Imin 22sec.
Winter Oats Handicap, I mile.—Electrakoff, 11,2, 1; Wimmera, 10.11, 2; Tnoy, 9.4, 3. Also started; Morrie Zealand, Sir Frisco, Effort, Waipmiui, Kilosteri, Flitaway, Negative, Ariom. Meroze, Tlilarian, Splash, First Consul. Rovnl Marine and Seaweed. Wimmera led till opposite the stand, but lost by a head to ElectrakolT. Time, Imin. 46 3-ssec.
